Coming from a difficult background and finding myself homeless in a previous life, it's important to me to help other people. You'll find me in London Road keeping our store super organised and handing out food and clothing parcels to our users. I also teach a monthly cooking class at Cadder Community centre, which focuses on healthy and affordable meals that can be stretched for the whole family. I'm first aid trained and happy to help!

The left picture is me 4 years ago after an overdose this wasn’t an intentional overdose. Then a year later the same thing happened only this time I was fighting for my life. I pulled through & they said I was “lucky” you would think this would have scared me into getting help & getting clean but it didn’t I was off & running into another few years of absolute hell they call addiction. I had lost everything my kids my home family & friends but most of all I had lost myself 😢 I had let the people who matter most down & I just couldn’t see a way out so just got myself deeper & deeper into drugs & many more fatal overdoses. 37 times maby more in 1 year 😭 I was lost broken & felt like I was only living to use drugs. The second is me 17 month clean happy healthy & feeling I have so much purpose in this crazy world 🌎 i went into rehab on the 10th of January 2020 with the clothes on my back 6 stone & on crutches begging for help I was done ✅ first thing I done when I left rehab was join this wee team & ive never looked back helping with kindness has gave me so much purpose & the help I’ve received on a personal level is second to none 👏👏 this wee team has been a massive part of my recovery & has played a big part in keeping me clean. I’ve met so many amazing people & made friends for life. Kindness will hold a forever place in my heart 💖

When donating some clothes to the homeless unit l asked if they needed volunteers. I began helping soon afterwards for a few hours twice a week. I work with many other volunteers and it is a great team. I feel privileged to be a small part in helping others who are facing difficult times. Kindness also builds confidence and self esteem to people on recovery by accepting them into the team and giving them a reason to get up in the morning.
