Laura
I have always had a passion about making things and people feel better about themselves. Having built up some amazing relationships and trusts with our service users, I created Kindness to host an inclusive charity. We aim never to judge and only to help.

I started out with Kindness in 2019. It’s been fantastic to see the journey of some of the people that have transformed their lives with our support. We have met so many lovely people along the way.

I started volunteering with our charity in December 2019 with Laura. I love how the group has grown so quickly. We started off a tiny group of 5 people – now we literally have hundreds of volunteers! Although I am not on the street as much I still and contribute to the kindness we offer.
My main role within the charity is as treasurer. I’m responsible for managing our finances and creating some fundraisers to help build our funds. We together can change people’s life forever with Kindness!

I am the newest of the trustees to be appointed. I joined the charity in October 2020 and have a financial advisor background. I love working alongside all our volunteers and helping Laura support and show Kindness to all our street friends. I wish I could commit more time,
but I absolutely love being involved in all we do!

Laura invited me to join her on a Sunday evening around Glasgow city centre feeding homeless people, something I had always fancied doing but had the excuse of picking my daughter up from work. I followed the team on social media and in February 2020 I dropped off a TV at her house for a woman and the rest is history. It was just before the pandemic and Laura was out most nights at this point, so I went along….and here I am. There were a handful of people to begin with and the team just seemed to grow and grow – just as well as we then went out 7 nights a week.
I’m responsible for the co-ordination of our army of volunteers ensuring our unit and soup kitchen are functioning with lots of fun and laughter for everyone involved.
I didn’t realise how much fun and enjoyment I would get from volunteering. Whilst your helping people, your also meeting people from all walks of life, who want to do their part to help too.
I am fortunate to be part of this great team making a difference.
